Directories collect little personal data, but analytics, ads and member accounts still deserve care. TGGroups includes the tools you need under Settings › Privacy and GDPR. This is practical guidance, not legal advice — check the rules that apply where you and your visitors are.
The cookie banner
- Shows as a bar or a floating box with Accept all and Essential only.
- With "analytics wait for consent" on, Google Analytics and similar scripts load only after the visitor accepts.
- Every choice is recorded in the consent log with its date and IP, for your records.
Members' own data
- Download my data gives a member a JSON copy of their account, activity and messages.
- Close my account either deletes the account at once (with the password) or sends a request you review — your choice.
Your policy pages
Write a privacy policy that says what you collect (account details, submitted links, statistics, cookies) and why, and link it in the banner. The Pages extension is the easiest place to publish it.
Keep collection small
- Visitors History can anonymise IP addresses.
- Guest submitters only give an email for the approval notice.
- Do not ask for documents unless you really need identity verification (KYC is optional and off by default).
