The AI Assistant extension, new in TGGroups 1.2, adds an AI chat page for your signed-in members. It is optional: install it from the Extension manager only if it fits your community.
How it works
- You add your own API key for Claude, OpenAI or Gemini and list the models members can pick from.
- Members keep their conversation history and can rename or delete conversations.
- Usage is metered in credits based on the tokens used. You set how many credits 1,000 input and 1,000 output tokens cost, and cap the length of replies.
- You create credit packages to sell, give a sign-up bonus if you like, and can top up any member.
When it makes sense
- Study directories — members ask for explanations and practice questions.
- Coding communities — quick help with errors and snippets.
- Business niches — drafting messages, channel descriptions and posts.
Keep costs under control
The provider bills you for every request, so price credits above your cost, start with a small sign-up bonus and watch the usage page in the admin panel. In demo mode the assistant does not call any provider.
