Today we are releasing TGGroups 1.0, a directory script for Telegram. It runs on your own hosting, installs from the browser in a few minutes and includes every feature in one license.
Why a Telegram directory
Telegram is where communities, news channels, job alerts, study groups and countless useful bots live — and people search for them every day. A Telegram directory is a different job from a WhatsApp one, though: a single t.me/name address can be a group, a channel, a bot or a person, and Telegram has links for things that are not chats at all, such as sticker packs and chat folders.
So instead of putting "Telegram" next to WhatsApp as one more link type, we built TGGroups for Telegram from the start, on Laravel 12 and our BaseKit foundation: a web installer, roles and permissions, a modern admin panel, extensions and a public demo mode.
What is inside
Every kind of Telegram link
Groups, channels, bots, mini apps, sticker packs, emoji packs, chat folders, themes and public profiles each have their own colour, icon, button text and page. The More Platforms extension adds WhatsApp, Discord, Signal and Facebook groups.
Details — and the type — detected for you
Visitors paste a link, or simply an @username, and press Fetch details. TGGroups reads the name, picture, description and member, subscriber or monthly-user count from the link's public t.me page — and from the same page it tells a channel from a group, a bot or a person. The same chat can never be listed twice, whatever spelling was pasted.
Moderation that scales
A review queue with bulk actions, blocked words, daily limits per person, captcha, visitor reports that can hide a link by themselves, and a health checker that finds usernames no longer in use and revoked invites.
Browsing people enjoy
Search, type chips, category, country and language filters, five sort orders including trending this week, and rich link pages with the @username, a QR code, share buttons, reviews and related links.
Ways to earn and grow
Sell featured listings with your own plans, place ads in ten slots, offer a public API to partners — and let your own bot post every approved link to your Telegram channel.
Sixteen extensions included
Telegram Bot Tools, reviews and ratings, featured listings, ad manager, link health checker, import and export, public API, embed widget, more platforms, announcement bar, captcha, live chat, short URLs, visitor history, blog and pages — all bundled, all switchable from the Extension manager.
An Android app
The public API powers a native app. The TGGroups Android app, written in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, browses, searches, saves and submits links on your directory under your own name and icon.
